Senna + David's Wedding - Brisbane

We had the pleasure of photographing the marriage of graphic designer Senna and fitness expert David from UBody at Teneriffe in Brisbane. Unfortunately the weather turned bad just as Senna & Dave were announced married, but that did not stop us and we made use of a hairdressing salon and a few bars along the main stretch to capture some awesome pictures while having a few drinks. Luckily the rain stopped in the late afternoon and we had some time to photograph Senna & David among the beautiful wool stores in Teneriffe. The party was continued into the night at Aqua Linea ... Wedding Tip of the Week - Wedding Date

Deciding on a wedding date can be one of the hardest things to do when planning your wedding. We encourage you to do this before all else and at least 18 months before you think you will be married. Here is the best way to start the process.

Make a list of the key elements for your wedding date.

Here are some example key elements:

  • Weather
  • Work commitments
  • Family availability
  • Friend availability
  • Venue availability

It is never one key element that determines the date, often it is a combination of 2 or 3. Starting with the weather makes it easier to narrow down which months of the year to look at. If you are looking at different states or countries its best to write down the location and relevant months. For example:

  • Brisbane: April - May or August - September
  • Melbourne: December - February

Now go back to your list and pick the next most important key, this is usually how you decide the month. For example:

  • Work commitments - you can only get time off work at a certain time of year
  • Family availability - you have family from overseas that can only come at a certain time of year

The last step is to pick the next most important key to decide the date. For example:

  • Friend availability - your good friend can only make a specific date
  • Venue availability - you can only book your favourite venue on a specific date

Other items to consider: public holidays, holiday seasons, festivals or sports competitions.

Boys + Their Toys

The way tradition has it is that the Bride carries something Old, something New, something Blue and something Borrowed. Well Nick and his groomsmen believe they should carry something fun, what better than a J.I.Joe that fits in your front jacket pocket.

Wedding Tip of the Week - Theme

Wedding themes can sometimes be very traditional or very random, we want your wedding theme to be very you. Quite often couples will stick to what everyone else is doing at the time. We like to say that this is the one day in your life when everything and everyone is there for you, so why not do it your way. If you want to wear a multicolored wedding dress, then go for it.

Make sure your wedding screams, YOU

Why:

  • It will make you happy!!!
  • Your friends and family will remember your wedding because it stands out.
  • Your wedding will be more fun and relaxed.
  • You will love looking back over your wedding photographs, they will not only remind you of your special day but also that time in your life and who you were.

Carla + Todd's Wedding - Gold Coast

Carla & Todd's wedding was one of the most enjoyable feel good weddings I have had the honor to photograph. The few hours of getting ready was chaotic in one of those exciting ways where everything seems to fall into place. After frequently going between rooms and floors, with a very close bride and groom encounter where I managed to dive and shut the door, we left for the ceremony at North Burleigh Beach on the Gold Coast. Wedding Tip of the Week - Sunshine

Thought we would share some wedding tips and ideas which we have come to know from the weddings we have worked on. We will bring them to you weekly and in no specific order or preference. However the first one somewhat relates to creating beautiful photographs of your wedding.

Plan your wedding around the Sun

Why:

  • You need enough light for your Ceremony whether it is inside or out (the Sun makes a big difference to the light in a small chapel, and some chapels do not allow flash photography)
  • You need at least half an hour of light for the family, friends and group shots.
  • You need at least 1 hour of light for your bridal party photography session.
  • It also makes for a great atmosphere having the happy hour around sunset.

A great iPhone app that shows you where the Sun will set on a specific date at your location is Sun Seeker. All you have to do is stand on the spot were you will get married and hold up your iPhone to see where the sun will be at any specific time, a good way to see if the sun will be in your eyes. It will also give you sun rise and sun set times.

Justine + Alex's Wedding - Sydney

We had such a fun trip down to Sydney to shoot Justine + Alex's wedding. All their family and friends came out from the UK for the wedding who also got a tan from the beautiful sunshine we were treated to the entire weekend. The girls hair was done by The Front Room and their ceremony was held at St Peter's Anglican Church, a quaint little church on a hilltop with a magnificent view of Sydney Harbour. The reception was a ball at Dunbar House and we all watched the sun go down over Sydney on the edge of the water in Watsons Bay, and then partied into the night.
